You will land on Phi Phi Don and then take another boat to the uninhabited island of Phi Phi Leh. It’s only 7.4 km apart, so it’s an easy 30-minute ride between the islands.
Since Phi Phi Leh is uninhabited and without any vehicles on land, renting a boat for the day is the best bet to explore. Group options are the best for budget travelers and will have a pre-determined schedule. These are usually in speedboats to hold more people or a long-tail boat for smaller groups.
We opted for a private long-tail boat for six hours. This was plenty of time to hit some main spots and relax on the water. Our boat came with a captain and a general itinerary, even though we were.
Celebrating my birthday cruising around Phi Phi Leh was one of those perfect travel decisions. After debating between group tours, private options, and luxury private tours, we decided to treat ourselves to a private long-tail boat. Let me tell you, those six hours exploring the islands were pure magic!
