It honestly felt like taking a mini road trip through Thailand, without the long drives! We found it on the basement level of ICONSIAM, one of the prettiest malls we’ve ever seen. This pairs well with a river dinner cruise or as a lunchtime break to escape the heat. My parents absolutely loved this place!
Join our experience on the Best Luxury Dinner Cruise Bangkok, Thailand, where we enjoyed stunning river views, exquisite cuisine, and an unforgettable evening on the water!

Unlike Bangkok’s chaotic outdoor markets, SookSiam is fully air-conditioned but still captures the charm of traditional Thai markets. Walking through, we felt like we were in an old-school floating market, with wooden stalls, bridges, and even small boats selling food.

Best Traditional Markets in Bangkok
Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market
If you’re planning to explore a floating market in Bangkok but don’t love the idea of packed crowds and tourist traps, Khlong Lat Mayom is the perfect choice. Unlike the bigger, more commercialized floating markets, this one feels more local and relaxed. It’s not overly big, but that’s part of the charm, you get an authentic canal experience without the chaos.
Located about 20 km from central Bangkok, Khlong Lat Mayom feels more like a riverside market than a full-on floating market, but you’ll still see a boat or two selling fresh produce, snacks, and souvenirs. Plus, the food here is some of the best you’ll find at any market in the city.
If you’re a fan of hidden gems and unique finds, this spot also has the charm of a Bangkok flea market, where you can stumble upon handmade goods, vintage items, and local crafts while enjoying the laid-back atmosphere.
Authentic Canal Experience
Khlong Lat Mayom stays true to its local roots, offering a laid-back, non-touristy vibe. The market is split into two areas, one for food and another for handicrafts, clothes, and fresh produce. While some vendors sell snacks from boats, most stalls line the riverbanks, making it easy to explore on foot.
Hop on a boat tour to cruise the canals and see a more traditional side of Bangkok. We opted for the 30-minute tour, and it was our first time actually on the canals in Bangkok. We loved being able to explore a more authentic side of Bangkok with a local. We even saw a massive monitor lizard in the water!
Did you know: Bangkok was previously known as the Venice of Asia due to it’s extensive canal network??
