We’re not originally from Tirana, but after living here for over 3 years, we’ve eaten our way through more restaurants than we can count! What started as pure curiosity turned into a genuine love for this city’s food scene, from tiny grandmother-run byrek shops to lively garden restaurants with live music.

These are 15 of the best restaurants in Tirana that we’ve personally tried and loved enough to shout about, so you don’t have to do all the research yourself!

our awards:

Best for Albanian: Odas Garden

Our Go-To: Eos Mezze Bar

Best Restaurants in Tirana: Sit-Down Meals

1. Terracotta – Date Night 🕯️

  • Our Bill: 5,850 leke ($70.20)
  • Cuisine: Mediterranean
  • Location: Outer Blloku
Close-up of Italian bruschetta with prosciutto, creamy cheese, and cherry tomato on toasted bread served at one of the best restaurants in Tirana, Albania.
Cozy wooden interior of a restaurant in Tirana with warm lighting, modern decor, and neatly set tables, perfect for a dining experience at one of the best restaurants in Tirana.

This cozy little restaurant feels like visiting a friend’s house, and honestly, that’s the best way to describe it! They don’t have a menu. The options change daily based on whatever is fresh and available, and the staff walks you through it all. They’re super open to customizing your meal, too. Our server Romeo was fantastic, gave us great recommendations all night, and even poured us a Raki on the house at the end. That’s the kind of place this is!

Must-Tries: Starter Salad, Ragu Pasta with Beef Tenderloin, Chocolate Molten Cake, House Red Wine (only 300 leke / $3.60 per glass!)

What We Ordered:

  • Burrata Starter
  • Beef Tenderloin on Potato Puree (medium rare)

2. Ceren Ismet Shehu – For Cozy Vibes 🔥

  • Our Bill: 7,768 leke ($93.22)
  • Cuisine: Albanian
  • Location: Tirana Castle Complex
02. best places to visit in tirana

Ceran Ismet Shehu is an upscale take on Albanian cuisine and culture, and it totally delivers! We reserved the cozy fireplace room (reservation only), and it was perfect for a cold winter day. They run a set menu that changes daily based on what’s available and what the chef is feeling. The only choice they gave us was our protein. We went with lamb, and it was incredible. Dish after dish just kept coming, probably close to a dozen total, and every single one was something new and delicious. Such a fun, unique experience!

Must-Tries: Lamb, Bottle of Albanian Wine

3. Salt Tirana – For Asian 🍣

  • Our Bill: 10,358 leke ($124.30)
  • Cuisine: Asian Fusion
  • Location: Blloku
03. blloku tirana bars
03. salt restaurant tirana

Salt Tirana is THE spot for a special occasion or a really nice night out! It’s on the pricier side, but Asian food isn’t easy to find in Tirana, so it makes total sense. Go during Happy Hour (12 pm-2 pm or 5 pm-8 pm), and you’ll score discounted sushi rolls and actual real cocktails, not the overly sweet sugar water you get at a lot of places. We made reservations ahead of time, and it’s a good thing we did because the place filled up fast later in the evening!

Must-Tries: Sushi rolls and desserts

4. Blua Fish – Best Fish Restaurant in Tirana 🐟

  • Our Bill: 5,720 leke ($68.64)
  • Cuisine: Mediterranean Seafood
  • Location: Central
04. luxury restaurants in tirana
04. best fist restaurants in tirana

We stumbled into this place completely by accident and were absolutely blown away! This rooftop seafood spot feels like it was plucked straight from Greece with rattan furniture and olive trees all around. The big thing here? You can actually order fish filets. Not a whole bone-filled fish plopped on your plate, but actual filets. That alone makes it worth a visit!

Must-Tries: Seafood Bruschetta, Filet, House Wine

5. Eos Mezze Bar – Our Go-To ❤️

  • Cuisine: Albanian Tapas
  • Location: Outer Blloku
Cozy dining area at one of the best restaurants in Tirana featuring stylish interiors, warm lighting, and an inviting atmosphere for a memorable Albanian dining experience.
Grilled shrimp appetizer served at one of the best restaurants in Tirana, featuring fresh seafood, rich flavors, and beautifully presented dishes for an unforgettable dining experience in Albania.

Eos Mezze Bar is genuinely one of our favorite spots in all of Tirana! The indoor decor is super cute, and there’s some outdoor seating too. It’s a small-plates concept, and we are here for it. We ordered 4 dishes for the two of us, plus drinks, and then immediately ordered two more because we just couldn’t stop. The menu changes seasonally but keeps some staples around, and the shrimp is a must-order every single time, no exceptions! We also got a complimentary limoncello after dinner, which was such a nice touch.

Must-Tries: Shrimp Tigania (shrimp with garlic and herbs) 🍤

What We Ordered:

  • Paprika cocktail (spicy) – 700 leke ($8.40)
  • Miss Fizz cocktail – 700 leke ($8.40)
  • Kosovo’s Suxhuk (sausage, gravy, onions, beans) – 550 leke ($6.60)
  • Shrimp Tigania ⭐ MUST TRY – 950 leke ($11.40)
  • Patatet tona (potato wedges with sauce) – 550 leke ($6.60)
  • Homemade Kefte (Albanian veal meatballs, 3 pcs) – 550 leke ($6.60)
  • Fried olives

6. Restorant Tymi 🪄

  • Cuisine: Local Albanian Fare
  • Location: Tirana

Restorant Tymi is kitschy, fun, and covered in signs, posters, and random pop-culture decor, with good retro music pumping in the background. It’s a vibe! But honestly, the real star here is the raki. And we don’t say that lightly because raki usually burns going down. Here it was smooth, actually flavorful, and genuinely enjoyable. If you’ve been curious about Albanian raki culture, this is the place to try it properly!

Must-Tries: Raki, trust us on this one

What We Ordered:

  • Raki Juniper
  • Raki (classic)

7. Odas Garden – Best for Albanian 🇦🇱

  • Cuisine: Traditional Albanian
  • Location: Central (near New Bazaar, a few blocks from the main square)
Charming outdoor garden dining area at one of the best restaurants in Tirana, featuring a lively atmosphere, local cuisine, and a unique setting for an unforgettable evening in Albania.

If you only have time for ONE restaurant in Tirana, make it Odas Garden! It’s centrally located, easy to get to, and serves up a great spread of traditional Albanian food with enough variety for everyone at the table. The restaurant is big with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but you’ll want to make a reservation to get a spot in the main garden area outside. There’s live music, great energy, and it honestly turns into one big lively Albanian party. Absolutely loved it!

Must-Tries: Fergesë, Patellxhan i mbushur me perime (stuffed eggplant)

What We Ordered:

  • Kriko Puka craft beer on draught – 300 leke ($3.60)
  • Fergesë (ricotta cheese and peppers) – 480 leke ($5.76)
  • Patellxhan i mbushur me perime (eggplant stuffed with veggies) – 650 leke ($7.80) ⭐ Rich, deep flavors, tasted almost meaty!
  • Berxolle viçi me patate (300g veal chop with boiled potatoes) – 1,250 leke ($15.00)

8. Komiteti Bar 🥃

  • Cuisine: Albanian / Bar
  • Location: Tirana

Komiteti has such a charming vintage Albanian aesthetic! Cute interior, open-air spots, and a lovely upstairs area with bench seating under a shaded tree. It’s the perfect place to park yourself for a long, relaxed evening. The raki flight with 8 mystery flavors is such a fun way to explore the drink, and the Japrak (stuffed grape leaves) is genuinely the star of the whole menu. Don’t skip it!

Must-Tries: Raki Flight, Japrak

What We Ordered:

  • Raki flight (8 mystery flavors)
  • Fergesë: ricotta dip with roasted red peppers, tomatoes, onions, and garlic, served with bread
  • Japrak ⭐ STAR OF THE MENU: stuffed grape leaves with minced lamb or beef, rice, onions, parsley, dill, mint, and spices
  • Petulla: puffy fried dough served with jam

9. Sakura Sushi Bar 🍱

  • Cuisine: Japanese / Sushi
  • Location: Upstairs from Burger King, Tirana

Sushi boat alert! Sakura is a cute spot with a dark, moody interior and a proper sushi bar setup. We sat inside and loved the whole atmosphere. It’s located upstairs from Burger King, so it’s really easy to walk right past without noticing. Don’t do that! The tempura shrimp and the sushi rolls are both excellent and very worth it.

Must-Tries: Sushi Rolls, Tempura Shrimp

What We Ordered:

  • 6 pc Tempura Shrimp ⭐ – 750 leke ($9.00)
  • Ramen (just okay) – 650 leke ($7.80)
  • California Roll – 890 leke ($10.68)
  • Spicy Salmon Roll – 840 leke ($10.08)
  • Shrimp Roll – 1,100 leke ($13.20)
  • 2x Small water – 200 leke each ($2.40)
  • Asahi beer – 500 leke each ($6.00)

Best Restaurants in Tirana: Casual Food

10. Smash Burger Tirana – Best Burgers 🍔

  • Our Bill: 1,100 leke ($13.20)
  • Cuisine: Burgers
  • Location: Tirana

Our favorite burgers in Tirana, full stop! Simple menu, done really well. It’s a small spot with a handful of seats inside and a couple outside. It’s also on Wolt for delivery, which is honestly dangerous information to have. The smash burger is a classic cheeseburger on a soft bun, made with fresh ingredients and executed perfectly. And the loaded fries? Absolutely get them!

Must-Tries: Smashburger, Loaded Fries

What We Ordered:

  • Smashburger (cheeseburger, soft bun) – 600 leke ($7.20)
  • Loaded fries (smashburger patty, cheese, burger sauce) – 400 leke ($4.80)
  • Water – 100 leke ($1.20)

11. Delibros 🍔

  • Our Bill: 1,680 leke ($20.16)
  • Cuisine: Hamburgers & Sandwiches
  • Location: Blloku

Sometimes you just need a really good cheeseburger, and Delibros totally delivers! Fresh ingredients, solid smash burgers, and some genuinely wild options like the Tangerllek Burger with pear and blue cheese. Don’t forget to order the fries. It’s super casual with both indoor and outdoor seating and a really laid-back vibe.

Must-Tries: Any smash burger

12. OPA Greek Street Food – Quick Bites ⚡

  • Our Bill: 1,480 leke ($17.76)
  • Cuisine: Greek Fast Food
  • Location: Multiple locations
08. cheap restaurants tirana

OPA Greek Street Food is our go-to whenever we want something fast and satisfying! Six locations across Tirana, and they deliver on Wolt now too. We mostly hit the one near Skanderbeg Square. Souvlaki is everywhere in Albania, but OPA is consistently the best because they’re the busiest, which means that big pile of meat gets cycled through fast and stays fresh. The sauces are also really good. Don’t sleep on the sauces!

Must-Tries: Chicken Souvlaki + any sauce, or the open souvlaki to share

Looking for something different in Tirana? This might surprise you.

13. SIP N' DIP – Best Brunch ☀️

  • Our Bill: 2,340 leke ($28.08)
  • Cuisine: Brunch / American
  • Location: Near the main square

A solid brunch spot right near the main square! We sat outside on a busy street, and it was still a really nice time. The food is good, and the American-style options are a welcome comfort. The apple pancakes are dangerously sweet in the best possible way!

Must-Tries: Apple Pancakes, Avocado Toast

What We Ordered:

  • 2x Avocado toast – 500 leke each ($6.00): served with scrambled eggs on top, whole grain toast
  • Apple Pancakes – 500 leke ($6.00): super sweet, served with caramel sauce
  • 3x Lattes – 200 leke each ($2.40)
  • Large water – 250 leke ($3.00)
  • Small fizzy water – 90 leke ($1.08)

14. PikNik 🍺

  • Cuisine: Bar Food
  • Location: Blloku

PikNik is a great open-air spot in the Blloku area with solid bar food and one of the few places in Tirana where you can get draft beer, with a few options on tap. Perfect for a casual afternoon bite with a cold pint in hand!

Must-Tries: Draft beer, Burgers

What We Ordered:

  • Burgers
  • Chicken nuggets
  • Draft beer

15. Byrek Te Nona 🥐

  • Cuisine: Traditional Albanian Byrek
  • Location: Tirana

This is a tiny little hole-in-the-wall that closes when she sells out, which is usually by 1 pm, so you have to go early! She only sells byrek, made fresh every single morning. The grandmother running it is absolutely sweet and even lets us try a piece before buying. We asked for “misht” (meat), but she was out that day, so we got a cheese-and-onion and a veggie one instead. Both were great! Best eaten hot, and it’s cash only. A few benches out front, or grab it to go!

Must-Tries: Whatever she has that day, just get there early!

A: Not at all! Tirana is genuinely affordable compared to most European cities. You can grab a filling souvlaki at OPA for under $2, enjoy a full sit-down dinner for two at a nice restaurant for around $60-$90, and even splurge at Salt Tirana for a special occasion without breaking the bank.

A: Some do, and some don’t! We recommend reserving ahead at Terracotta, Ceren Ismet Shehu (especially for the fireplace room), Salt Tirana, and Odas Garden if you want the garden seating. For casual spots like OPA, Smash Burger, and Byrek Te Nona, just walk in.
