Check out these Bucket List Amalfi Coast attractions, ride a Vespa, swim in Positano, taste limoncello, hike scenic trails, and more!
The Amalfi Coast is pure magic, and we fell in love the moment we arrived. From colorful cliffside villages and fragrant lemon groves to turquoise waters and unforgettable local cuisine, we’ve discovered why this stretch of southern Italy is a must-visit. Whether riding a Vespa along the coast, sipping limoncello in Positano, or taking a quick day trip to Capri, we’re sharing our top tips to help you explore it all.
Amalfi Coast Attractions
1. Ride a Vespa along the Amalfi Coast Road
Exploring the Amalfi Coast on a Vespa was hands down our favorite experience. Zipping through towns like Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, with the cliffs and blue waters as our backdrop, felt like something straight out of a dream. It gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace, skipping the hassle of waiting for buses and making impromptu stops whenever we wanted to take in the views.
We booked our Vespa with Amalfi Motorent, and it was perfect for our adventure, classic, easy to ride, and even came with helmets and a trunk.
Just a heads up, though: make sure you have some scooter experience because the roads are narrow, winding, and steep, especially in towns like Positano. Finding parking can be a challenge, so make sure you’re ready to pay around €4 per hour for secure parking or use the Easy Park App for street spots. But despite the challenges, riding along the coast on a Vespa was an unforgettable way to experience the Amalfi Coast!

2. Swim under the bridge at Fiordo di Furore
Fiordo di Furore is one of the most iconic beaches we visited on the Amalfi Coast, famous for the Red Bull Diving Competition. Tucked between towering cliffs, the beach is small but offers jaw-dropping views with a bridge arching right over the water. Boats pull right up to the shore, adding to the excitement of the place and making it feel like something out of a movie.
The beach only gets sunlight at certain times of the day, so we recommend checking out a sunrise app for the best time to visit, midday is usually the safest bet. Getting there requires climbing quite a few stairs, so be ready for a little workout, but once you reach the bottom, it’s totally worth it. The peaceful vibe, stunning views, and the restaurant with drinks and food, it’s the ideal place to unwind and take in the stunning views of the coast.

3. Eat under the cliffside at Marina di Praia
Marina di Praia is a charming little spot that quickly became one of our favorites on the Amalfi Coast. The beach is tiny, but the cozy restaurants right on the water give it that perfect coastal feel we were looking for.
We recommend Trattoria Da Armandino for a great seafood meal (with Aperol, of course). It’s a peaceful place to enjoy a fresh meal while taking in the stunning views of the cliffs around you. The town may be small, but it has so much character, and it’s the perfect place to unwind and let time slow down.
If you’re planning on spending the day at this idyllic beach, renting sunbeds and an umbrella is a great option for comfort, 40 for two chairs and an umbrella for the day (less pricey than Positano beaches). But be mindful if you’re hoping to find a free spot, as they fill up quickly, even in the quieter months. Getting there early is key if you want to snag a spot on the sand. Whether you rent or go free, the experience is definitely worth it for a laid-back day by the sea.

4. Rock Jump at Lido delle Sirene
Lido delle Sirene is a hidden gem in Amalfi that offers a perfect escape from the crowds. This small, private beach is surrounded by smooth rocks and clear, inviting water, making it ideal for a refreshing swim. While the beach club itself isn’t particularly flashy, the natural beauty of the spot more than makes up for it, giving you that authentic Amalfi Coast experience. It’s a relaxed place where you can really connect with the sea and the stunning surroundings.
The cost to access the beach club is €6.60 per person if you just want to bring your towel and chill on the sand (aka large-ish rocks). For those looking for a bit more comfort, you can rent a pair of sunbeds and an umbrella for €55 for the day. One of the highlights here is the rock jumping spots, which are perfect for anyone wanting a bit of adventure. If you’re not into jumping, no worries, the calm waters are perfect for floating and soaking in the sunshine.

5. Taste Limoncello with locals
One of the best experiences we had in Positano was the Limoncello Tour at Valentì Positano, it’s definitely something we’d recommend to anyone visiting! We got the chance to not only make our own limoncello but also meet a wonderful local family that made us feel right at home. Walking through their beautiful lemon garden with a refreshing limoncello spritz in hand was such a memorable way to immerse ourselves in the local culture and flavors.
In addition to learning about the limoncello-making process, we also sampled some amazing local products. The pistachio cream they make there was out of this world, absolutely delicious! Between the delicious treats, the warm hospitality, and the stunning views, it was an experience that truly captured the essence of the Amalfi Coast. If you’re a fan of limoncello or just want to experience something authentically local, this tour is a must-do!

6. Admire the Views from Ravello
If you’re visiting Ravello, you can’t miss the incredible views from Villa Rufolo or Villa Cimbrone, they’re the go-to spots for breathtaking panoramas. We, however, took a little detour and ended up at Santuario dei Santi Cosma e Damiano. Honestly, we got lost on our way, but it turned out to be one of the most beautiful discoveries of our trip. The views here were absolutely stunning, and the peaceful surroundings made it feel like a hidden gem.
While Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone are definitely the famous spots, sometimes getting off the beaten path leads to the best experiences. The Santuario offered such a unique perspective of the coast and a much quieter vibe, making it the perfect place to unwind. We were so glad we stumbled upon it, just goes to show that sometimes, getting lost leads to the best memories!

7. Swim in the famous waters of Positano Spiaggia
Positano Spiaggia, or Marina Grande Beach, is hands down one of the most iconic spots in Positano. You’ve probably seen its stunning backdrop of colorful buildings and crystal-clear water all over social media. To make sure you get a good spot, we recommend getting there early, it fills up fast, especially during peak season. But if you can’t make it in the morning, visiting at twilight is a must. The way the lights from the hillside glow as the sun sets is pure magic, creating the perfect backdrop for a stroll along the beach.
While the beach can get pretty crowded, it’s still one of the most lively and energetic spots on the Amalfi Coast. There’s a small free section, but most of the beach is paid. The prices for sunbeds and umbrellas can vary, but expect to pay around €75 for a pair near the water, depending on the row and season. Regardless of where you sit, Positano Spiaggia offers some of the best views, making it well worth a visit on your Amalfi adventure.
8. Boat to a hidden beach
One of our favorite finds in Amalfi was Spiaggia del Cauco, a hidden gem only accessible by boat. You can rent a pedal boat for just €10 an hour (available from May to September) right from the main beach in Erchie. It is a fun little adventure to paddle around the castle and make your way to the secluded beach. Because it’s not accessible by foot, Spiaggia del Cauco is way less crowded than the typical tourist spots, making it the perfect escape if you’re looking for some peace and quiet.
Erchie itself is a charming, tiny town that’s off the beaten path, so you won’t find huge crowds here. The beach itself is rocky (like all of the Amalfi Coast beaches), but it’s worth it for the tranquility and the stunning view. If you’re craving a quiet spot to relax away from the crowds, renting a boat and heading to Spiaggia del Cauco is an unforgettable experience. Just make sure to bring your sunscreen and enjoy the calm waters and beautiful surroundings!
9. Hike the Path of the Gods route
Although we didn’t get to do the famous Path of the Gods hike, it’s definitely one of the most well-known hiking paths along the Amalfi Coast. This 7km (4.34 miles) path is a moderately challenging hike that offers stunning views and a real taste of the Mediterranean wilderness. The trail starts in Agerola (Bomerano), winding through rosemary-scented shrubland and past lemon groves, olive trees, and chestnut forests, before finishing in Nocelle. From there, you can take on the 1,700 stone steps down into Positano for a well-earned treat, like a refreshing lemon slushie!
It’s a one-way hike, so be sure to plan ahead and take the bus back, as it’s a bit of a trek both ways. If you’re hiking in the summer, make sure to go early to avoid the heat, or visit in the spring or fall for more comfortable conditions. Wear sturdy trail shoes, as the path can be rocky and uneven in parts. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking to take in some epic views, the Path of the Gods is definitely worth considering for your Amalfi Coast adventure!

10. Shop for Amalfi Paper at Tabula
Shopping for Amalfi paper in the heart of Amalfi was such a memorable experience, especially at Tabula, a charming family-owned shop that’s been around for three generations. The paper here is something special, handmade using old-school methods that have been passed down through the family. What makes it even more unique is that the current owner is the artist behind all the stunning designs, adding a personal touch to each piece.
We couldn’t resist getting a custom wax stamp to go with our purchase, a small extra treat that made it feel even more personal. The history and craftsmanship of Amalfi paper make it a beautiful souvenir, and supporting a local family-run business just made the whole experience even more meaningful. If you’re in Amalfi, this place is a spot you definitely need to check out if you’re after something special to take home.

11. Buy all the pretty ceramics
Positano is a treasure trove for anyone who loves ceramics, and we couldn’t leave without picking up a few beautiful pieces from Emporio Della Ceramica. The town is famous for its vibrant handmade pottery, with everything from colorful plates to intricate vases that reflect the charm of the Amalfi Coast. The craftsmanship here is incredible, and the designs are as unique as the town itself, making each piece a perfect keepsake.
If you’re planning to take some home, don’t forget to ask for free bubble wrap when you purchase, trust me, it’ll save you a lot of packing stress. The shop staff are super helpful in wrapping everything securely for your journey. Whether you’re shopping for something functional or purely decorative, these ceramics are a wonderful way to bring a piece of Positano back with you. You can also ask to have some items shipped back home for an extra cost!

12. Walk the boardwalk at night in Amalfi
Strolling down the boardwalk in Amalfi at night is an absolute must! The trees are beautifully lit, creating a magical atmosphere as you wander past charming shops and cozy gelato stands. It’s one of those peaceful yet lively spots where you can just take your time, soaking in the sights and sounds of the coast.
We loved how the area feels so inviting, with the twinkling lights reflecting off the water. Whether you’re window shopping or grabbing a sweet treat, the boardwalk at night is the perfect way to wind down after a busy day of exploring. It’s a lovely, relaxed vibe you won’t want to miss.

13. Get Custom Sandals made
If you’re in Positano and love unique, quality pieces, you have to check out Rallo Antonio for custom leather sandals. The process is super quick, you can have a pair made in just 15 minutes! You get to choose from an incredible selection of Italian leather, pick a design that suits you, and get them perfectly fitted.
While we didn’t have the chance to try it ourselves, I definitely have it on my list for next time! The sandals range from about €100 to €150 per pair, which is such a great deal considering the quality. Imagine walking away with a pair of custom sandals made just for you in the heart of Italy, it’s a special experience you won’t forget. If you’ve tried it, please share some tips for our next visit!

14. Dine under the Duomo of St Andrew Apostle
One of the best dining experiences we had was at Taverna degli Apostoli, located right beneath the stunning Duomo of St. Andrew. The outdoor seating offers a clear view of the square, it’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal while enjoying the view at the same time. The food was incredible and surprisingly affordable for such a prime location.
We couldn’t get enough of the slow-cooked octopus in olive oil, so tender and packed with flavor. We also tried their homemade spaghetti with lemon pesto, which was light, fresh, and full of zest. If you’re ever in Amalfi, this place is definitely worth a visit!
15. Drink from Saint Andrew's Fountain Amalfi
While exploring Amalfi, we stumbled upon Saint Andrew’s Fountain in the main square, such a lovely spot! This public fountain isn’t just for show; it’s actually filled with drinkable water. We couldn’t resist taking a sip straight from the fountain, and it was refreshingly cool and crisp.
It’s a perfect place to refill your water bottle if you’re out and about, especially on a hot day. The fountain is a great way to stay hydrated while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the square. It’s one of those little touches that make Amalfi feel even more charming!

16. Sunset Cruise
One of the best ways to experience the Amalfi Coast is from the water, and trust me, the views are absolutely breathtaking. As we cruised along the coastline, we could really appreciate the massive mountains and how the colorful towns seem to tumble down into the sea. Booking a sunset cruise is the perfect way to see the sky come alive as the sun dips behind the hills.
We boarded a small boat from the Amalfi Port, and it was just the right size, only eight of us, which made it feel intimate and cozy. To make it even better, we were treated to a glass of prosecco or beer and some tasty snacks as we relaxed and soaked in the incredible views. If you’re ever in the area, don’t miss out on this unforgettable experience!
17. Try the famous lemon sorbet (in a lemon)
If you’re visiting the Amalfi Coast, you’ve got to try the lemon sorbet served in a real Amalfi lemon, it’s a must! The sorbet is creamy and refreshing, and the best part is that it’s served in the actual lemon, which is much sweeter and less bitter than any lemon I’ve had before. The juice inside the lemon, after you finish the sorbet, is a delightful bonus that adds the perfect finishing touch.
We had ours at Royal Gelato in Amalfi, and let me tell you, it was incredible! But you can find this treat pretty much everywhere along the coast, so no matter where you are, be sure to grab one. It’s the perfect way to cool off and enjoy the local flavors! It is expensive, but it’s something you have to try at least once.

18. Day Trip to Capri
A day trip to Capri is like stepping into a luxurious paradise just off the coast of Italy. You can easily catch a ferry from either Positano or Amalfi, with the trip taking around 45 minutes to an hour. We caught the earliest ferry to maximize our time on the island, but if you’re planning to head back, the last ferry usually leaves around sunset. It’s a perfect escape to explore stunning views, high-end shops, and some seriously breathtaking landscapes.
Top 3 Things to Do in Capri
- Giardini di Augusto – One of the first places we visited in Capri was the Giardini di Augusto, and let me tell you, the views were absolutely unreal. Perched high on a cliff, this beautiful garden offers panoramic views of the iconic Faraglioni rocks and the Bay of Marina Piccola. It’s the perfect spot to snap a photo and take in the lush surroundings.
- Capri Boat Tour & Blue Grotto – A boat tour around Capri was hands down one of the best things we did! The Blue Grotto was unreal, the water literally glows blue, it’s like something out of a dream. Plus, seeing the island from the sea was just breathtaking. Definitely book this tour ahead of time, it’s super popular!
- Chairlift to Monte Solaro – For a bird’s-eye view of the island, the chairlift ride up to Monte Solaro is a must-do. It’s a quick but exhilarating ride that takes you to the highest point on Capri. Once at the top, you’re rewarded with 360-degree views that will make you feel like you’re on top of the world.

19. Day Trip to Sorrento
Sorrento is another perfect day trip if you’re staying on the Amalfi Coast. You can easily reach it by ferry in about 30-40 minutes from Positano or Amalfi, or take a scenic one-hour drive. We loved how quick and easy the journey was, and once we got there, the charming streets, beautiful views, and delicious food and drink made the trip totally worth it. The ferry ride was around €15-20 each way, and if you decide to drive, renting a car for the day costs roughly €50-80 depending on the season.
Things to Do in Sorrento:
- Dine at O’Parrucchiano La Favorita (Lemon Tree Garden): Enjoy a meal surrounded by lush lemon trees in this charming garden setting. The fresh flavors and atmosphere make it a must-visit spot.
- Capo di Sorrento: Take a walk to this scenic viewpoint offering breathtaking views of the cliffs and the sea, perfect for relaxing and snapping some photos.

20. Walk the Ancient Pompei
A day trip to Pompeii is just an hour away by a specific DayTrip Shuttle, making it an easy and accessible excursion from the Amalfi Coast. Once you get there, you can explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site where centuries-old ruins offer a fascinating glimpse into life before Mount Vesuvius erupted. Walking through the preserved streets, you can almost imagine the bustle of the past, from the houses to the marketplaces.
We suggest booking a guided tour to get the full experience and insight into this incredible archaeological site. A tour guide will bring the history to life, pointing out the hidden gems and telling stories that you wouldn’t catch on your own. Trust us, it’s worth it! 21. Eat all the Pizza in Naples
If you’re a pizza lover, Naples should definitely be on your radar. Just a short day trip away, this city is home to some of the best pizza in the world, and you can literally taste the history in every bite. Whether you’re grabbing a classic Margherita or trying something more unique, the authentic flavors are unforgettable. Don’t miss out on this pizza paradise!
We didn’t get to try everything, but here are a few of our top picks:
- Gino e Toto Sorbillo – We went for the Diavolo pizza, and it was perfectly spicy and packed with flavor.
- Starita – The Marinara Starita here is simple yet so satisfying, with fresh ingredients that make it stand out.
- Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba – This one’s special because it’s one of the oldest pizzerias in the world (established in 1738!). We tried their Amatriciana and Fritta Classica, and trust us, it was worth the wait!
